Really good deals are in store for beautiful, one of a kind, handmade items.

Some more pics

It's really starting to feel like the addition is coming together. We have come across some hurdles so it's taken a little longer than we expected but hopefully the progress will be quicker now. We'll see.

Here are some pictures of the concreke (as Jubal calls it) being poured for the slab. Once it cures, the framing will begin. Hopefully that will be next week sometime.

Nice Boots!

One Happy little boy

Do you think we should keep the beautiful siding?

My sweet Valentine

My husband is great. We have been married for 10 1/2 years and he still manages to surprise me with his creativity and love behind the gifts he gives me. This valentine's day was no exception. If you love working in the yard, you will appreciate this gift as much as I do. What a sweetheart! I had to work on the 14th, so when I got home, I noticed Stephen was working in the backyard. When I walked out to the backyard, my jaw dropped. My husband arranged huge rocks around my herb garden, the vegetable garden, and added another mulched area for a new flower garden for me to play in. Needless to say, it looks so good and I am so excited for spring now. In addition to all the rocks, Stephen also mulched and finished our new fence. Whew! He was busy wasn't he? I love you babe and appreciate all the creative fun things you do for me. You're awesome.

My grandmother is an amazing woman. She has a 7th grade education and she is one of the smartest people I know. She never ceases to amaze me with her creativity and MacGyver-like inventions. She is in her 80s and still gardens, quilts, sews, cooks, and many other things. Did I mention she is amazing? I have always admired her sewing abilities and love that she is so good at it. She is currently making Stephen and I a quilt and when I get it, I will for sure post it on my blog. Not only is she a very talented woman, she is one of the most giving people I know. She is always giving of herself, time, and money to those in need. I am so thankful for the legacy she is to my family.

With hope to be like her in my sewing skills (as well as many other things), I am trying to learn how to make new things and broaden my horizon. So, in light of that, I made a miniature quilt. Granted it didn't take me as long and I did it on my sewing machine, but I think I got the idea and will hopefully make a bigger one in the future.

Don't be afraid to try something new.....

Feelin' a bit cozy

Have you heard of a crayon cozy? I see them occassionally and think they are so cute and practical. So I did some research and found a great tutorial on how to make one.
Here is the link: (http://www.skiptomylou.org/2007/04/25/on-a-roll/). It was so easy and it turned out really cute. It is so nice for Jubal to have some crayons within his reach while we are on a trip. It is also nice to have them all together and organized. So it's definitely a win win for mother and child. Here's how it turned out:

These would make great gifts too!

If you make one, please let me know how it goes. I would love to hear.

I love soup. And for some reason this winter, I have been on a soup hunting kick. So far I have found some pretty good recipes. I just think it's so nice to sit down with the wonderful fam on a cold cold night and enjoy a warm bowl of soup. Ya can't beat it. Tonight I tried a new and super easy recipe for Broccoli and Cheese soup. Jubal isn't a huge fan of broccoli for some reason so I was wondering if he would like it. He did..... He pretty much gobbled it up. What a nice feeling.

Here's the recipe from Cooking Light:

1 cup chopped onion
2 garlic cloves, minced
3 cups chicken/vegetable broth
1 (16-ounce) package broccoli florets or 2 cups fresh broccoli
2 1/2 cups 2% reduced-fat milk
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
8 ounces grated sharp cheddar cheese

Heat a large nonstick saucepan coated with cooking spray over medium-high heat. Add onion and garlic; saute 3 minutes or until tender. Add broth and broccoli. Bring broccoli mixture to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to medium; cook 10 minutes.
Combine milk and flour, stirring with a whisk until well blended. Add milk mixture to broccoli mixture. Cook 5 minutes or until slightly thick, stirring constantly. Stir in pepper. Remove from heat; add cheese, stirring until cheese melts.
Place one-third of the soup in a blender or food processor, and process until smooth. Return pureed soup mixture to pan.

I will continue to post recipes that I find very yummy. Let me know what you think if you try them. I would love to hear how they turned out!
