Learn to mend clothing, toys, furniture and other items. Sewing holes in shirts and pants can be a relaxing activity. Darning socks and tights is a bit more difficult, but can double or triple the life of these items.

Another idea is to cut off pants when they start getting too short on the kiddos. It prolongs the life of that piece of clothing and makes something "new" for warmer weather. It works for adults too ;).

I am so bad at this. I will have a pile of shirts that need a button res-ewn or a strap that needs fixing but it takes me FOREVER to get around to it. This is a good one though. You def. do this already=)

I do the same thing, Tasha. Don't feel bad ;) It drives Stephen crazy sometimes. Sewing a button is just not as much fun as making crayon cozies ;)
