More pics

Here are some more pictures of the digging. I wanted to get some more of the big ditch but I didn't want to get too close and in the way. Thankfully they are pretty much done in our yard and they will start digging up the road on Monday. I was able to plant some of my perennials back in the garden so I hope they are happy now. Lots of watering is in store. Hopefully we will get some rain this weekend.

I have been impressed with the workers. They have been very respectful and nice about this whole thing. I guess that pitcher of cold sweet tea I made helped ;).

Focus

Amidst all the crazy stuff going on in our front yard, I took some time to relish in what God has given us and the beauty He has created in our back yard. I just love sitting on our back deck and relishing in the sounds of all the birds and looking at God's creation. It's a peaceful place. We are so thankful for it.

Your digging what?

Long story short: when Stephen and I bought our house, we were told that the previous owner sold a right of way (for a sewer line) through our front yard to a man who will be building some houses across the street. Over a span of 4 years, surveyors have come and gone, a lawsuit was filed against the builder, and things were put off. We tried to see if the right of way could be moved but it couldn't happen without paying thousands of dollars. Not knowing if the sewer line would ever be added, we went ahead and planted a perennial garden, some new trees, and Stephen put up privacy fence. Life went on.

Then last Friday we found out that the project would begin on the following Monday. They would have to dig a 20 feet wide ditch through our yard. So here we go! Stephen and I are bummed but we are trying to make the best of it.

As far as the perennial garden, we dug up all the plants and bulbs and hopefully they will survive this week.

The construction workers have been nice to help us take everything down and dig up stuff.

I will post more pictures as the digging proceeds.

Here are a few shots of before construction and some of the construction.

Fathers

Fantastic
Awesome
Thankful for
Helpful
Enormous blessing
Role model
Special

Cheesy I know...but what can I say...I am cheesy ;)
These are words that come to mind when I think of my dad and when I think of my husband as a daddy. What an awesome responsibility.

Thanks dad for being there for me and praying for my family. You are great! I praise God for the virtues of patience, perseverance, and kindness that He has developed in you. It has really been a testimony to me.

Stephen, thank you for being such a wonderful daddy to our son. Jubal and I love you so much. You are such an involved father and I appreciate your support, encouragement, and challenging words as we parent our little guy. You are a really really good daddy (among many other things)and I appreciate that about you so much.

Happy Father's Day!

Wanna Cherry?

I love this time of year here in Asheville because of all the berries that are getting ready for harvest. We are able to pick blackberries, red raspberries, and blueberries in the wild near where we live. It's so great to experience God's provision like this. It's also so much fun to pick and make goodies with the fruit.
Our neighbor has 3 huge cherry trees in her yard and she was kind enough to share them with us. So today after a much needed rain storm, Jubal and I took advantage of these abundantly fruited trees. They are small this year because of the lack of rain but they are still so delicious. We picked enough today to hopefully make something yummy tonight. Here are a few pics that Jubal and I took of our fun little cherry pickin'.

Happy Saturday!

A cute little diaglogue

Stephen:
"Jubal, when you get home, I want you to lay down for about 20 minutes so that you can get some rest. You are very tired."

Jubal:
"I can just drink some caffeine. That will give me lots of energy!"
